Acupuncture has been shown to be beneficial to animals in a variety of situations. It is perhaps most frequently used to aid in the alleviation of pain due to arthritis, back pain and other musculo-skeletal issues, especially in animals who do not tolerate medications well.
Two of our Veterinary Surgeons, Roger Stobbs and Heidi Wyatt, are able to offer courses of acupuncture for your pets. If you are interested, please make an appointment to discuss this with them, as not every pet is a suitable candidate for treatment.
Acupuncture can be performed on a variety of species, and the needles are placed at acupuncture points on the animals body for roughly 15-20 minutes. Some patients have been known to fall asleep during this time and most of them do find it very relaxing.
